Multi-Sport Training Area
When proud Duchesne parent Pat Turner passed away late last year, his family asked for memorial donations to be made in his honor to the Duchesne Athletic Boosters. Ninety-two individual gifts came in totaling nearly $9,000. With that much money given to honor Mr. Turner, the DAB wanted to do something significant in his name.
DAB President Jason Boschert ’98 explained, “Mr. Turner had such a devotion to Duchesne, along with a history of coaching soccer and teaching athletes to work hard and try their best. We thought upgrading the training area on the mezzanine level above the gym with gifts made in his honor would be a fitting tribute. We’ve long been wanting to put down some cushioned flooring and make some other improvements there.”
“The addition of the turf on the mezzanine benefits not only all athletes, but ALL of our students,” noted Debi Turner, Dean of Student Services. “While athletes can take advantage of this space for team practices, workouts, and warm-ups before games, our P.E. classes can also benefit from the new space, as it allows for more activities to be played in the mezzanine area during the school day.”
