Scriptural Foundations of the Charisms

The four charisms of Duchesne High School are deeply rooted in Sacred Scripture. Click each category below to explore the biblical passages that anchor and inspire our community's call to holiness.
1. PrayerDuchesne Pioneers pray without ceasing.
“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
“Pray without ceasing.”
“Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
“The LORD is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.”
2. Missionary DiscipleshipDuchesne Pioneers follow Jesus and bring others to Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”
“So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
“If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
3. CommunityDuchesne Pioneers love one another as Christ loves us.
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.”
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”
4. Pioneer SpiritDuchesne Pioneers rely on God to persevere through challenges.
“Now the LORD said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.’”
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
“Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.”
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”
Foundations of Holiness
These charisms are intended to be the foundation of the culture and education at Duchesne High School. We aim to inspire all members of our community to embrace these charisms in order to become the saints God created them to be.
