Girls State Program
Girls State Program: Each year Duchesne, along with all the schools in this district, is asked to nominate three junior girls to go through the process of applying for this summer’s Girls State. The session is held for a week each summer at the University of Central Missouri. If accepted, our students get to interact with other outstanding students from around the state of Missouri. The faculty nominates the three young women based on,
Interest in government and current events
Have high moral character
Show strong leadership abilities
Be well above average in scholastic achievement
The three young women must send in an application, grades, and go through an interview process.
Last Sunday, Taylor McCarthy, Emily Noonan, and Olivia Scheberle went through the interview process at the American Legion Post 312. Our young women did very well. It is my pleasure to announce that Emily Noonan was chosen to attend this summer’s Girls State with both Taylor and Olivia being chosen as alternates. It is likely that alternates attend, as girls from other schools are not able to. Great job once again by our Duchesne students.
