As crazy as the weather has been this year, we
did not use many of our planned “snow days.” Since
we build those extra days into the schedule, we have
the unique opportunity to end the school year a
week earlier than originally planned.
Duchesne families are invited to a special reception in honor of the faculty and staff members retiring at the end of this school year: Fr. Jim Gahan, Mr. Terry Gravemann, Mrs. Jan Haug, Mrs. Barb Schlueter and Mrs. Sharon Spalding. The reception will take place in the DHS cafeteria from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Congratulations to senior Chris Pestka, who qualified for the 2012 Missouri Class 3 boys state golf championship. He also played in last year's state tournament, placing 45th overall.

It has been our custom and our rule for several years that no activities may be scheduled (extra curricular, clubs, teams, practices, games) from 4:00 pm on Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday.
A special tee shirt (long and short sleeve) has been designed to honor the historical achievements of the mens basketball team. The tee shirt order is offered to the Duchesne Community.
On Wednesday, March 14th, the Duchesne Mathletes attended the Archdiocesan Math League Contest at Bishop DuBourg High School. There are six schools in the League. Duchesne won more than 50% of all the awards.
When we return from spring break we will allow the students to wear the warm weather dress code found on page 34 of the Parent - Student Handbook. The section from the handbook is found below. I ask that you please read it and make sure the boys shorts are not cut-off or frayed, etc.
The Duchesne student body experienced an inspirational morning with Justin Fatica from Hard As Nails Ministries. This is a Catholic organization which is rooted in the Gospel and the teaching of the Faith.

Senior Michael Busche has been selected for the 2012 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the class of 2012.
Several Duchesne Science Olympiads have been awarded scholarship to Lindenwood University as a result of their outstanding performance in the Regional Science Olympiad Competition on February 4, 2012.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence for all Catholics over age 14. Fast as well as abstinence is obligatory for those from the ages of 18 to 59.

Lady Pioneers faced the Kirksville Tigers at Moberly on Wednesday night for sectional play. The Tigers started the evening with a record of 22-3 and unfortunately gained another win.

Duchesne High School is thrilled to present the literary classic “Little Women” as our 50th annual musical! This award-winning Broadway production is based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel of the same name.
During Ash Wednesday Mass, the students, faculty and staff were challenged to buy an ark. For the past several years the Duchesne Community donated money to Heifer International, an organization that assist people in impoverished countries to become self-sufficient by providing them animals and the knowledge to eventually be self-sustaining. We've donated over $5000 a year, enough money to fill an ark!
We will have an all-school Mass (regular uniform dress code) during which ashes will be imposed. Wednesday is a "B" day. The schedule will be the regular Mass schedule. We will begin with period 8 and 1 and then proceed to advisory and then be dismissed to Mass. Period 2 after Mass, period 4 lunch, then period 3, 5 & 6 after lunch.
All are invited to Applebees for a yummy breakfast of eggs, pancakes, sausage and a beverage. This is the perfect way to fuel up before a busy Saturday of errands and sporting events and it will benefit the Duchesne Choirs.

Michael Busche has been selected as this year's recipient of the Archbishop May Service Award. He will represent all the students who give service at Duchesne at two events.
