Heifer Project
In 2011, Duchesne received the prestigious Ark Award from the Heifer International hunger relief organization for the eighth consecutive year. During the weeks of Lent, DHS students and faculty members raised more than $5,000 through acts of self-denial. The money was used to purchase numerous pairs of animals to promote sustainable food sources and agriculture in developing countries. Heifer representative Rev. Cleo Kottwitz (grandfather of Sarah Wappelhorst '13) presented the Ark Award at our Easter Mass in May.
The Duchesne community will begin our 2012 Heifer Project at our Ash Wednesday Mass on Feb. 22. All members of the Duchesne family are welcome to celebrate Mass with us and participate in this opportunity for almsgiving.
