As a Christian community, DHS believes that faith is not only a personal response to God’s love, but also a communal response – that is, to love and care for one another as Jesus taught. Service is motivated by the love of God and neighbor, and is offered without expecting anything in return.
With that in mind, Duchesne does not require service hours for graduation, but rather encourages students in serving others – we suggest 25 hours of community service each year, a total of 100 hours during a student's high school years. We are very proud that many DHS students perform more than double that number; the school has an outstanding and long-standing reputation for service in the greater St. Charles community.
Students who complete 100 hours of service are recognized at graduation with a bronze award; 150 hours earns a silver award; 200 hours or more earns a gold award at graduation.
